The Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences is authorized to confer the degree of doktor habilitowany in the field of natural sciences, in the discipline of chemical sciences, and acts as the habilitating entity.

The current resolution concerning the procedure for conferring the degree of doktor habilitowany at the Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry PAS is available on the Institute’s Public Information Bulletin (BIP) website or on the Institute’s official website.

Proceedings for the conferment of the degree of doktor habilitowany are initiated upon an application submitted by the candidate seeking the degree to the habilitating institution through the Council for Scientific Excellence (Rada Doskonałości Naukowej, RDN).

The procedure for the conferment of the degree of doktor habilitowany consists of the following stages: Procedure

A degree of doktor habilitowany shall be awarded to an individual who:

1) holds a degree of doktor;

2) possesses scientific or artistic achievements that constitute a significant contribution to the development of a particular discipline, including at least:

  1. a) 1 scientific monograph issued by a publishing house which, in the year of publication of the monograph in its final form, was included on a list drawn up in accordance with the provisions issued pursuant to Art. 267 sec. 2 point 2 (a) or
  2. b) 1 series of thematically related scientific articles published in scientific journals or reviewed materials from international conferences, which, in the year of publication of the article in its final form, were included in a list drawn up in accordance with the provisions issued under the Art. 267 sec. 2 point 2 (b), or
  3. c) 1 design, construction, technological or artistic unique achievement accomplished;

3) shows significant scientific or artistic activity carried out in more than one higher education institution, academic or cultural institution, in particular foreign one.

  1. The achievement referred to in sec. 1 point 2 may form part of a collective work if the study of a separate issue is an individual contribution of the person applying for the degree of doktor habilitowany.
  2. The publication obligation shall not apply to achievements whose subject matter is protected by classified information.
