Human Resources Strategy for Scientists

Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences fully endorses “The Europen Charter for Researchers and The Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers” and commits itself to apply them with the aim to offer the researchers a favorable working environment that enhances the quality of research and innovation.

The European Charter for Researchers is a set of general principles and requirements which specifies the roles, responsibilities and entitlements of researchers as well as of employers and/or funders of researchers

The aim of the Charter is to ensure that the nature of the relationship between researchers and employers or funders is conducive to successful performance in generating, transferring, sharing and disseminating knowledge and technological development, and to the career development of researchers.

The Charter also recognizes the value of all forms of mobility as a means for enhancing the professional development of researchers.

The Charter provides a framework for researchers, employers and funders, which are an incentive for them to conduct responsible and professional work in the work environment, as well as to perceive one another as professionals.

The Charter and the Code form the basic documents of the European HRS4R strategy.

The Charter and the Code contain 40 rules regarding four areas:

  • ethics
  • recruitment
  • working conditions and social security
  • training

The Charter and the Code include the rights and obligations of scientists and employers, including grant and project managers. Voluntary implementation of the principles results in creating attractive working conditions for researchers in Europe.
