Krakow School of Interdisciplinary PhD Studies – Recruitment
Announcements and detailed information on recruitment to the KISD are posted on the KISD website and websites of the Institutions jointly leading the School.
Recruitment is carried out in accordance with the Recruitment Regulations at the Krakow School of Interdisciplinary PhD Studies (PDF)
Graduates from higher MA studies in chemistry, physics or related sciences who have obtained the written consent of one of the employees to take on the role of supervisor in a given research topic may apply for admission to the PhD School at ICSC PAS.
Recruitment to KISD will be carried out in each institution by the recruitment committees of these institutions.
Candidates will be recruited for specific research topics through an open competition within the limits of places set by the institutions jointly leading the Doctoral School.
In a given institution, a candidate can apply only to one research topic.
The research topics for implementation in a given institution can be submitted by the employees of the institution who plan to be supervisors in the preparation of the doctoral dissertation.
At ICSC PAS the research topic should be submitted on the appropriate form (DOC, PDF) o the Deputy Director of the KISD at ICSC PAS Sc. D. Nika Spiridis, prof IKiFP PAN ncspirid(at)cyf-kr.edu.pl)
The recruitment procedure for the Doctoral School consists in awarding points to the Candidate within qualification criteria, then adding them up and placing the Candidate in the appropriate place on the ranking list.
Under the criteria, the Candidate may obtain
a. 0-40 points for the average grade from studies,
b. 0-50 points for the admission exam,
c. 0-10 points for scientific achievements.
Detailed rules for awarding points under the qualification criteria are set out in Annex 4 to the Recruitment Regulations.
Candidates who have met the formal requirements and obtained at least 15 points in the criteria “a” and “c” will be admitted to the admission exam.
An oral admission exam with candidates applying for research topics proposed for implementation at ICSC PAS is conducted by the Recruitment Committee of ICSC PAS at the headquarters of ICSC PAS within the time limit set out in the announcement on the start of recruitment
The admission exam will cover physical chemistry. Recommended textbook is Peter Atkins, de Paula Julio, Physical Chemistry, Polish Scientific Publishers PWN.
Candidates will also be asked to present their master’s thesis or the recently implemented project in which they took part.
